2011: Outstanding Energy-Efficient Green Custom Home -- A new Bensonwood home located in Weston, CT constructed by the Timberdale/Bensonwood team. The home incorporates Bensonwood's high performance panelized building shell construction and features two Tulikivi masonry heaters as the primary heat source. Back-up heating is a dual fuel air-to-air heat pump hydro-air system. The home also includes numerous green construction components and building systems.
2011: Best Not So Big House Remodel -- A whole house remodel of a guest house in Ridgefield, CT. The "not so big house" refers to a well known book written by Sarah Susanka titled The Not So Big House which created a movement in architectural circles that focused on the virtues of smaller homes. The central idea is to value quality over quantity in home design and construction. Hence the award is for a very high quality, small home.
2009: Best Remodel in the State of Connecticut ($750,000 to $1 Million) -- A whole-house remodel that included the addition of a 700 sq. ft. octagonal timber frame Great Room, an oak-paneled Pub Room, a new Kitchen, Mud Room, Master Suite and upper floor bedroom suite. Timberdale also designed and installed extensive exterior stone work, including a large patio with outdoor kitchen and fireplace, Koi pond and waterfall and other stone work.
2008: Project of the Year and Best Vacation Home in the State of Connecticut -- An extensive whole-house remodel of a water front home on Candlewood Lake in Sherman, CT. Interior finishes were designed and installed by Timberdale. Remodel included the addition of a timber frame Great Room, an oak-paneled oval Dining Room, a new Kitchen, Master Suite and extensive remodeling on the remainder of the home. Timberdale also designed and installed extensive exterior stone entry.
2007: Best Home Theater in the State of Connecticut -- A paneled home theater room with tres ceiling and curved, built-in front cabinetry for speakers and projection screen. The equipment cabinet was built into the side wall, hidden as part of the wall panel system. All interior details were designed and installed by Timberdale.
2007: Best Spec Home in the State of Connecticut ($2-to-$3 million) --
A new new 6,700 sq. ft. home located on the edge of a nature preserve in Weston, CT. House features include a large hammer beam timber frame Great Room with a large field stone fireplace. The home has many fine woodworking details designed and installed by Timberdale. All exterior stonework was designed and installed by Timberdale.
2006: Best Spec Home Remodel in the State of Connecticut -- An elegant colonial farm house located in Redding totaling 6,000 square feet of new and renovated space. This project began with a very dated “high ranch” house that was completely renovated and married with a substantial new addition to create a “colonial” style home suitable to the neighborhood and lot. Timberdale was responsible for all interior and exterior architectural design and execution. The home features a large timber framed family room, gourmet kitchen, cherry paneled Pub Room and extensive stone patios overlooking a pond and surrounding the swimming pool.
