Green Energy Systems

Green Energy Systems is an energy contractor providing an integrated set of services for residential deep energy retrofit customers. We offer three core services:

  • Diagnostic services to determine a building’s energy efficiency and its health and durability (energy audit plus)
  • Deep energy retrofit general contracting and construction services
  • Alternative energy system assessment, design and general contracting

We work with our clients to review their energy and budgetary goals and to formulate a comprehensive retrofit plan. We then provide contracting services to handle all aspects of implementing the retrofit. When required, we help select subcontractors, solicit bids and oversee the work to assure its quality and proper functioning.

If our client wants to consider alternative energy systems we help them plan and execute it. We assess its suitability, design the best system to fit within the overall retrofit plan and provide general contracting services to implement it.

We provide a unique blend of home construction, general contracting, green construction, mechanical engineering and building science knowledge to work with our clients as an independent partner to efficiently and cost effectively transform their homes into a more energy efficient and healthy living environment. Green Energy Systems is an affiliate company of Timberdale and we incorporate the knowledge and experience at GES in all of Timberdale's residential construction projects.

Green Energy Systems is the exclusive dealer for Tulikivi brand masonry heaters in Connecticut.  Please visit our Tulikivi web site for more information

What is a Deep Energy Retrofit?

A Deep Energy Retrofit is a comprehensive, plan-driven approach to renovating a home to become highly energy efficient and a more healthful living environment.

The Deep Energy Retrofit (
DER) takes a whole-house, systems approach to the retrofit program. By applying up-to-date building sciences and a broad-based scope to address all aspects of the home, a DER can achieve transformative energy improvements (with savings of 50-to-70 percent, or more) while also substantially improving the health of the living environment.

The DER plan specifies concrete performance targets that are verified through “test-in, test-out” measurements.
